Under the overall guidance of the Director, NRC, the general supervision of the Climate Impacts, Adaptation and Environment
Team (NRC) for the project management and of the Food Security Policies and Programs Team (ESA) for the econometric
analysis, the incumbent will manage the project "Assessments of Climate Change Impacts and Mapping of Vulnerability to Food
Insecurity under Climate Change to Strengthen Household Food Security with Livelihoods' Adaptation Approaches", to be
implemented in Asia and Latin America. In particular, the incumbent will:


manage the implementation of the project, both at the global and country levels, working closely with national project
coordinators;
coordinate the establishment and running of a functional project steering committee between FAO technical divisions and
decentralised offices, country project partners, and other relevant stakeholders;
coordinate, supervise and contribute to econometric analytical activities for household vulnerability profiling, and climate
change impact assessments;
coordinate the organization of workshops in collaboration with the donor country, thereby ensuring consistency with the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Action Plan on Food Security;
coordinate the active involvement of all partners in all aspects of work planning, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation, timely provision of project inputs, delivery of outputs, monitoring and evaluation;
provide technical inputs and organize project activities, including research, capacity building programmes, training,
workshops, backstopping, symposium, awareness raising, project promotion for the global component, and country
components (with national project coordinators and field coordinators);
ensure the development of the integrated approach framework for climate change and food security (global output) and
implementation in countries, making sure the linkages between different steps of the project and coordinate the technical
work at the HQ and in countries, working closely with FAO technical divisions and national partner institutions;
prepare regular progress reports, annual work plans, background information and draft technical papers for discussion
and/or publication;
oversee, guide and manage the work of project staff, all technical, administrative and financial matters (budgets) relating to
the project;
perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
Advanced university degree in economics, agricultural economics, or closely related fields
Seven years of relevant experience in the area of climate change or food security
Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of Spanish

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:


Extent of work or research experience in food security issues, economic modelling, and climate change
Extent and relevance of experiences in international coordination with FAO and APEC activities
Level of understanding of climate change impacts, climate change adaptation and mitigation
Extent and relevance of experiences in managing technical cooperation projects
Ability to coordinate the work of others and to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
